A Shining Light

ehind every successful band is often one thing – struggle - at least at some point or another.
BNothing good comes easy, and if it does come easy, chances are you won’t appreciate it.
During the ‘Gossip’ touring cycle, things took a negative turn for Sleeping With Sirens. ‘Gossip’
was the band’s first release since the band’s departure from Epitaph Records, and their only one
on a major label. The poppier-sounding album saw the band tour the world as usual, but it
brought about a disconnection, and was a tough time in particular for lead singer Kellin Quinn.
‘How It Feels To Be Lost’, the band’s new album (and first on Sumerian Records), is the result of
that, and saw the frontman journaling what he was going through into songs. Throughout, Sleep-
ing With Sirens’ rhythm guitarist, Nick Martin, the oldest and wisest member of the band, has be-
come a beacon of light – and talks to Black Velvet about the positive changes that the whole band
has gone through and where he and the band are right now.
