life, with celebrities and musicians doing 22
pushups every day for 22 days, nominating
others to do the same. The ultimate goal is
said to be to reach 22 million pushups.
Marco hasn’t heard of the challenge, but
says of the suicides, “It’s very, very sad. Not
to get political…” before adding, “I’m going
to have to get political – The US as a coun-
try, we really need to make an effort, that’s
why Trump is doing the right things, I hope
he follows through. Take care of the people
that take care of us. That’s all I’m going to
say. My father’s from WWII. He’s got a his-
tory with World War II and Normandy and
all that and he came back and fortunately
he was cool but there were so many places
he would go, he ended up being an alco-
holic, and I’ll say it with all the love and re-
spect, Father… he’s not around anymore…
later on I understood, it was his way of deal-
ing with post-traumatic stuff, because the
things that they see, things that they do… I
would do it if I had to and would probably be
freaked out afterwards. My father, my broth-
ers, David, Vietnam, my older brother was
a Vietnam vet, and he used to talk about it.
Now he doesn’t like to talk about it, only
from time to time. I don’t see him that often
too. I remember when he first got back from
Vietnam it was fresh in his mind. I’m a kid,
13/14, I’m trying to pick his brain and he
would say little things that he would catch
himself saying and say “I don’t want to talk
about it,” I think governments over the
planet, I don’t know how it is in other coun-
tries but the US as a whole, we need to care
about our vets.”
he band recently posted a video for
Tthe song ‘Song And A Prayer’ from
‘Make Some Noise’. They called it a short
film rather than a video. We talked about
this song with John in our previous Dead
Daisies interview, but Marco adds, “One
thing about this band, especially working
with Marti Frederiksen, is that we wanted to
come up with an album with content. There
are a few there that just talk about partying
and all that. That’s always going to be part
of it. But ‘Song And A Prayer’, the message
is one of unrequited love. So the manage-
ment came up with the idea… we have
great management, by the way… to kind of
get the concept out there and the message.
And the story. John did a brilliant job with
the story. We help with the lyrics here and
there but John’s got to deliver it so he’s got
to believe in what he’s singing. It’s a good
story. A story that we all know, everybody’s
familiar. It’s human nature. We’ve all expe-
rienced some of that at one point or another.
So yeah, it’s very cool, I love it.”
They wrote ‘In the end it’s about hope’.
Does Marco believe everyone has hope?
