rom the outside, things looked to be promising for rising UK rockers Heaven’s Basement.
FSigned to Red Bull Records, a strong response to their LP, ‘Filthy Empire’, and opportunities
to tour the globe with headline shows which were growing and growing in size, plus the chances to
perform on many of rock’s bigger stages alongside some of the industry’s biggest stars. Unfortu-
nately, this all came to an abrupt end. And while this was no doubt disappointing, what has emerged
from the remains has been quite the opposite. Basement guitarists Sid Glover and Rob Ellershaw
are now accompanied by Tom Harris on vocals and Al Junior on drums and christened The Cruel
Knives. The band have immediately issued a statement of intent with debut EP ‘Side One’. The Cruel
Knives sit with Black Velvet to talk about what this side, and the next, have to offer.
