              TOSELAND / COLOUR OF NOISE – BIRMINGHAM O2 ACADEMY 3, 15.03.16

It’s the week of Toseland’s album release. ‘Cradle The Rage’ was pressive. The tracks sound just as good live as on disc. The only slight
unleashed on March 11th and four days later they play their first sold out thing marring the performance is a bit of feedback, mostly from the bass
Birmingham show at the Academy 3. Colour Of Noise kick off the night. a few times during the set, and once with the microphone James uses
It’s a small two-band bill, but that means no nonsense and it’s straight to when he plays the keyboard. But that aside, the band put their energy
business. Colour Of Noise features Bruce John Dickinson, previously in into a fun show playing everything from ‘Living In A Moment’ to ‘Just No
Little Angels, with Matt Mitchell of Furyon on vocals. The five-piece’s Way’ to ‘Hearts And Bones’. James speaks to the crowd, telling them
classic rock sound runs through the likes of ‘Can You Hear Me’ and the about songs such as ‘Puppet On A Chain’ and ‘Fingers Burned’, coming
thumping bass-heavy ‘Can’t Take It With You’. ‘Hit Rock Bottom’ has an across as a likeable chap, even giving shout-outs to some of the fans in
80s vibe while ‘Drive It Like You Stole It’ is like a fast car motoring down the front row that are doing the whole tour. They end the set, not with
the highway. You can tell Bruce is a pro, not only by his playing but also single ‘Renegade’, which is the penultimate song, but with ‘We’ll Stop At
his stance and posturing on stage, while Matt gives David Coverdale a Nothing’, as James says it’s new and what they believe in. It’s good to
run for his money. Final song ‘Heavy’ has a bluesy 70s appeal, slightly see a man and a band going by what’s in their heart and not just what
slower and earthy, with a heavy tone as its name suggests. others might prefer. At the end of this show, we can definitely understand
For a band that have only just released their second album, Toseland why some fans choose to follow the band on tour. We’d definitely like to
give a good value hour and half set which features a lot of tracks from see them again soon.
