Meanwhile, Oscar came to The Healing Horse Sanctuary home-
less. He was very sensitive, but soon found tranquility, becoming
                 best friends with Bobby.
The ponies are adorable. Sunny is super cute, while Sapphire
is bossy, and was previously used for breeding. Sadly, Muffin,
Sunny’s best friend, passed away last year, after an illness. They
are in a field with Sophie, who came to the sanctuary after having
                 been abused.
Ruby had previously been used in competitions before arriving
at The Healing Horse Sanctuary, while Max, Ringo and Charlie
could no longer be looked after by their owners, due to health is-
sues. Poor Louie, in contrast, had not been fed for months before
he was rescued, and came to the sanctuary as a walking skeleton.
He’s been nursed back to good health, as have all of the horses
                 have.
One of the newer inhabitants is Thunder, who became a resi-
dent just before Christmas. He’s a pony, so has joined Sophie’s
Herd, and now they’re good friends.
The sanctuary has open days every now and then, as well as
other fundraising events throughout the year. You can also book a
meet and greet experience, where you can go and meet each of the
horses, shown around by a volunteer. Visit www.thehealinghors-
esanctuary.org.uk where you can book to visit, sponsor horses, buy
                 food for them, and more.

SUMA VEGAN BAKED BEANS & BURGERS

We stumbled across a great deal on Discount Dragon’s website the other day
                - Suma’s Vegan Baked Beans & Burgers for 99p a tin. They are usually closer to
£3 a tin. Suma is a wholefoods co-operative that was founded in Leeds in 1977.
They deliver ethical and sustainable, plant-based products. These tins of baked
beans and vegan burgers use VBites mini burgers. You get around six mini burgers,
made from soya protein, in a tin, which, if put onto a bun, is probably just over one
full-sized burger in size - plus a lot of baked beans in tomato sauce. They are very
tasty and include 6.1g of protein per 100g and 3.7g of fibre, while containing only
1.6g of fat. Lovely comfort food that is pretty good for you. And they make a quick
meal, as you only have to heat them up in a saucepan for a few minutes. Although
some of Suma’s products are fairly hard to come across, as they’re unfortunately
not in supermarkets, but rather, smaller, independent health stores, they are defi-
nitely worth going the extra mile for and seeking out. Suma’s website, for more in-
                formation, is over at http://www.suma.coop.
