DON BROCO – NOTTINGHAM ROCK CITY, 01.11.21
This sold-out Don Broco show was sure
to be an exciting night in Nottingham and
anyone who had seen the guys before knew
exactly what they were getting themselves
into. From Rob Damiani’s incredible vocal
range to the enthusiasm of the crowd, Don
Broco are never ones to be missed. The
crowd surfing starts moments after the guys
step on stage and doesn't stop throughout
the whole night.
A post-Halloween show full of great,
consistent energy makes for a great first lis-
ten of their latest album ‘Amazing Things’.
‘One True Prince’ is arguably the standout
track from the 2021 release; full of body and
with a sound completely different from the
rest of the album, it just sits right and is a
newer song that really got the crowd going.
‘Bruce Willis’ is another new song that gets
everyone joining in. The gentle start is a per-
fect way to get prepared for the hard elec-
tronic beat starting around 30 seconds in.
Don Broco seem to be creating something
completely different to anything in the pop
punk/rock scene at the moment; it’s almost
as if they’re creating their own genre and,
whilst the crowd is definitely more familiar
with their older stuff, you could tell they're
here for the new sound.
Hands are in the air for the entire night
and the incredible performance of ‘Auto-
matic’ basically takes the roof off the place.
There are moments where we're struggling
to hear Rob Damiani’s voice and it's hard to
tell if he is losing it or not; a stripped-back
version of ‘Nerve’ proves this isn’t the case.
After this reimagined version of an absolute
classic, there is no doubt left as to just how
talented everyone on stage is.
