good too – during his drum
              solo Tommy Aldridge hits his
              drums with his hands and
              wrists after putting down the
              drumsticks while Joel Hoekstra
              on guitar pulls some epic
              poses while performing some
              classy solos. Joel looks very
happy on stage with a big
              smile constantly on his face.
He looks like the sort of guy
you’d love to hang out in a bar
with – even if you don’t drink!
              Whitesnake leave their real
hits until the end of the set
when we’re treated to ‘Is This
              Love?’, ’Fool For Your Loving’,
‘Here I Go Again’ and ‘Still Of
              The Night’. It’s a big sing-along
              with the legendary tracks still
sounding as good as they did
              when they were first released
              and catapulted into the charts.
                 At 9.35pm it’s all systems
go for Def Leppard who kick off
their set with ‘Let’s Go’, the first
              song on their latest full-length
              album. Def Leppard have a
bouncier edge and a set you’re
              constantly singing along to.
              ‘Animal’ has the lust, ‘Love
              Bites’ has the melting heart,
              ‘Armageddon It’ is pure rock.
              There are lots of interesting
statistics on the big screen dur-
              ing ‘Armageddon It’ – ranging
              from births and deaths this
year to the number of deaths
              caused by cigarettes, cancer,
              HIV and water-related dis-
              eases. Interesting stuff.
                 Before ‘Rock On’, Joe in-
              troduces bassist Rick Savage,
              remembering how they first be-
came friends 38 years ago and
how still today he’s his best
              mate. Soon afterwards Joe
              performs ‘Two Steps Behind’
on his own on acoustic guitar.
              ‘Rocket’ is like musical confetti
              while ‘When Love And Hate
              Collide’ is another romantic
              ballad. ‘Switch 625’ sees Phil
              Collen and Vivian Campbell
turning up the gear on their
              guitars. During ‘Hysteria’ the
              video screens are covered with
              old band photos that feature
              Steve Clark (RIP). The set
              ends, after ‘Let’s Get Rocked’,
with the song that always gets
              everyone dancing, ‘Pour Some
Sugar On Me’. They keep two
              older numbers, ‘Rock Of Ages’
              and ‘Photograph’, both from
              ‘Pyromania’, for the encore
and Joe says his usual ‘Until
next time… and there WILL be
a next time’ and ‘Don’t forget
us and we won’t forget you’.
How could we ever? The show
will stay in fans’ memories for
quite a while and the band will
              never be forgotten.
