ow in its seventh year, Birmingham Zombie Walk was founded by Jamie Chapman in 2009. This
Nyear’s event including performances on stage by local musicians Stuart Woolfenden and Chris
Smee before the walk kicked off at 3pm. Rafe, a 15 year old living with an inoperable brain tumour helped
lead the walk as he has in previous years while a Just Married couple got in on the action at the start of
the march for a quick photo op surrounded by zombies.
This year’s entry/walk fee was £5 - meaning more funding heading to Birmingham Children’s Hos-
pital, the chosen charity. The walking dead managed to scare some Saturday shoppers, amuse others
and intrigue the rest while walking past Birmingham Cathedral, down the High Street and up New Street.
Look out for next year’s event and get involved. Check www.birminghamzombies.com for more info.
Donations help provide state of the art medical equipment and facilities for the children’s hospital.
