There are chants for CJ, although he gets shy
at hearing his name chanted, and tells the crowd
he’s always been shy, so then the crowd chant
bassist Lee Wray’s name instead. Honeycrack’s
‘Go Away’ is another of our set highlights – such a
sublime single from the 90s. The Jellys’ melodic
‘Milk ‘N’ Honey’ and The Wildhearts ‘O.C.D.’ bring
an end to CJ’s set, before Ritch Battersby and Scott
Sorry come on stage to join CJ for an encore which
includes ‘People Who Died’, ‘Little Flower’ and ‘The
Only One’, a lovely stash of Wildhearts tunes.
Rounding the night off with a whole load of energy,
CJ in particular managed to include in a few high
jumps, while Ritch powers away on the drum kit,
and Scott sings and plays the bass. The three mu-
sicians are also joined by a couple of additional
members, and the encore acts as a true celebration
of the night, tour, friendship and camaraderie as a
whole. There’s talk now that CJ, Scott and Ritch
may get together again – let’s hope so.
