Oh my... It’s finally happened. It’s only taken decades in the making. The
UK finally has a plant-based cheese available to purchase in supermarkets
that is worth buying. And eating straight off the block. We thought this moment
would never come. For years, we’ve loved Vegusto cheese, although it’s
wasn’t in any of the mainstream stores, and over the years was getting harder
and harder to find - plus was always a little bit pricey when you could. Now,
finally, dairy cheese brand Cathedral City have produced a dairy-free delight
that tastes amazing. At least, the block does. Strangely, we weren’t quite so
enamoured by the slices, but the block tastes ahh-may-zing! And it really does
have a zing to it. It’s got that tangy saltiness that regular cheddar has, but
there’s no cruelty to cows with this ‘Our Plant Based’ option. It was hard to
stop eating it straight from the packet once we’d started - although it melts
and tastes perfect on toast - and lovely in a cold sandwich too. All in all, this
is our new go-to cheese now. And if you’re not vegan, this is the dairy-free
cheese you really need to try. This makes it even easier to ditch dairy. You’ll
be impressed, we promise. Cathedral City’s ‘Our Plant Based’ block is afford-
able at £3.60 for a 280g block and well worth it. The large slices are £2.30
(150g) and the grated pack (150g) is also £2.30.

                                                                                                  CAUSE FOR APPLAUSE
